Spotlight? Surprised. Mad Max technically cleaned up. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s acceptance speech rocked.

The directing was awkward, speeches rushed, too many Black jokes.

Bronze Nazareth Supports Hip-Hop 4 Flint

Bronze Nazareth Supports Hip-Hop 4 Flint
By Mr. Joe Walker

Hip-hop artists, professionals and enthusiasts across America are uniting in various cities to help resolve the terrifying water crisis in Flint, MI. Hip-Hop 4 Flint is a national charitable event, and a number of high-profile patrons will converge on The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI to show their support on March 19, 2016.

Hip-hop artist Bronze Nazareth will be among them.

I asked the veteran producer/rhymer why he’s chosen to show his support. This is what Bronze had to say.

“Simply because we do it for the people. I stand by Flint, and the more awareness we can bring the more help we can pull in. Also, I’ve always been one to not just talk, but put in an effort wherever I can help. Arrest Snyder!”

Suport Supports Hip-Hop 4 Flint

Hip-hop artists, professionals and enthusiasts across America are uniting in various cities to help resolve the terrifying water crisis in Flint, MI. Hip-Hop 4 Flint is a national charitable event, and a number of high-profile patrons will converge on The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI to show their support on March 19, 2016.

Hip-hop artist Suport will be among them.

I asked the rhymer born Sean Powell why he’s chosen to show his support. This is what Suport had to say.

“The situation in Flint is as infuriating as it is heartbreaking. What the residents are facing there is inconceivable. The response by the state government, along with the actions that led to this point, are flat out unacceptable. The grim reality is that it seems to be the tip of the iceberg in terms of the relationship the people have with the state of Michigan, and as far as the living conditions for citizens across the country. So any opportunity we as individuals get - not just as artists or activists, but as brothers and sisters - we need to step up and look out for each other the best way that we know how, as often as we can.

“We aren't going to receive the compassion from our government - state or federal - that one might be looking for in times like these. Big business has turned Flint into a crime scene. And it’s going to be up to the people to help make the residents of Flint feel like home again. Participating in the Hip-Hop 4 Flint, for me, feels like the least I could do to help make a difference.  It’s a moral obligation. It’s also an excellent way to show people around the world that [hip-hop artists] standing together are a powerful force that can make a positive impact in the peoples’ lives that we love and care about. The adversity we are facing in this situation will continue to be an uphill battle for every one genuinely concerned for the welfare of the people of Flint. As my GZ brother Choppy Blades put it, ‘We can do nothing, or we can do something’. And we have got to do something.”
