Valentines for Don Cornelius - The Complete Series

Valentines for Don Cornelius - The Complete Series
(SoulTrain.com)

By Mr. Joe Walker

In the fall of 2011, Full Force member Bowlegged Lou and I began ochestrating idea, the plan was to create a SoulTrain.com exclusive all-star tribute to Soul Train creator, Don Cornelius. As it began to take shape I came up with its title, "Valentines for Don Cornelius", set to unveil during Black History Month/Valentines Day 2012. Sadly, Cornelius passed Feb. 2 of '12. I continued the tribute, which carried on as star-studded feature articles in Feb. of 2013 and 14. I've compiled the entire series here. Enjoy!

Soul Train holds a significant position in American History, as well as a certain royalty in the Black community. The television show's social relevance was unrivaled for how it portrayed and uplifted Blacks during a time of civil and racial unrest. During the month of February I it make it a goal to write articles for SoulTrain.com which celebrate Black History Month in unique, educational, passionate, and entertaining ways. Here's every article from 2011 - 2015. Enjoy!

"Move My Arms Around" by Rick Chyme & Nixon featuring Suport

This Rick Chyme & Nixon single wastes no airtime. It gets right to the high-energy rhymes and wordplay, doesn't drag on in the end. Nice assist from Rocket Science rhymer Suport on this too. Check it out.

Countdown to WWE Royal Rumble 2016: What if AJ Styles Wins?

We’re counting down to the Royal Rumble: a variation of the traditional Battle Royal match with a total of 30 competitors. Two WWE Superstars start in the ring, every 90 seconds thereafter another Superstar enters. A Superstar is eliminated when they’re thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. Traditionally, the last remaining Superstar is guaranteed a championship opportunity at WrestleMania versus the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion. On Jan. 24th the Champion is required to defend his title in the Royal Rumble match; the first time its winner claims gold since Rumble ’92. | By Mr. Joe Walker

WWE Superstar: AJ Styles
Height: 5' 11”
Weight: 220 lbs.
From: Gainesville, GA

The rumor of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles signing with WWE has been the hottest topic in professional wrestling. Speculation reached a boil when rumors began to suggest his debut would be as an entrant in the Royal Rumble match. Long considered one of, if not the very best wrestler in the world, Styles’ arrival would be one heck of a surprise. What wouldn’t shock anyone privy to his reputation would be AJ becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion his first night in the company, then watching his longtime rival Samoa Joe show up to try and take it from him.

Royal Rumble Winners: Jim Duggan (1988), Big John Studd (’89), Hulk Hogan (’90, ’91), Ric Flair (’92), Yokozuna (’93), Bret Hart/Lex Luger (’94), Shawn Michaels (’95, ’96), Steve Austin (’97, ’98), Mr. McMahon (’99), The Rock (2000), Steve Austin (’01), Triple H (’02), Brock Lesnar (’03), Chris Benoit (’04), Batista (’05), Rey Mysterio (’06), The Undertaker (’07), John Cena (’08), Randy Orton (’09), Edge (’10), Alberto Del Rio (’11), Sheamus (’12), John Cena ('13), Batista (’14), Roman Reigns (’15)

Countdown to WWE Royal Rumble 2016: What if Sting Wins?

WWE Superstar: Sting
Height: 6' 10”
Weight: 299 lbs.
From: Death Valley

According to reports, “The Icon” Sting is home nursing an injury sustained during his WWE Championship bout with Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. It’s been noted he’s currently unable to wrestle, his condition may require surgery. The one thing we know for certain about Sting is “nothings for certain”. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship is the only major title the resilient Stinger has yet to hold. Don’t be too surprised if he shows up in the Royal Rumble match and claims it.

Royal Rumble Winners: Jim Duggan (1988), Big John Studd (’89), Hulk Hogan (’90, ’91), Ric Flair (’92), Yokozuna (’93), Bret Hart/Lex Luger (’94), Shawn Michaels (’95, ’96), Steve Austin (’97, ’98), Mr. McMahon (’99), The Rock (2000), Steve Austin (’01), Triple H (’02), Brock Lesnar (’03), Chris Benoit (’04), Batista (’05), Rey Mysterio (’06), The Undertaker (’07), John Cena (’08), Randy Orton (’09), Edge (’10), Alberto Del Rio (’11), Sheamus (’12), John Cena ('13), Batista (’14), Roman Reigns (’15)
